Abilis Gifts is an initiative of the larger, Greenwich-based non-profit Abilis. Founded in 1951, Abilis works to advance abilities for people with special needs, and their families, so that they can have empowered and productive lives.
The store, which also functions as a training site, sells handmade products crafted by the community Abilis serves.
Every purchase helps create employment opportunities for these wonderful people and helps fund Abilis programming.
“We are so excited that the Junior League of Greenwich found an opportunity to highlight the great work of the Abilis Gifts store,” said Dennis Perry, President and Chief Executive Officer of Abilis. “Driving traffic to the store provides our talented members with the chance to perfect their retail skills, opportunities to share their product offerings with customers and shows them how much they are truly valued by the community at large.”
Junior League of Greenwich President Sue Moretti Rogers says, “The League is grateful for the opportunity to partner with Abilis. They have a long history of supporting the special needs community and we are pleased to assist them in promoting their very special gift store.”
The store’s regular operating hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The store is closed on Sundays.
The Junior League of Greenwich has been bettering the community for over 50 years. It is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained individuals. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
