Ben Zabin, Trent James and David Rosenstein, America’s top young magicians of “Trick Trio,” will perform to raise funds for the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, a nonprofit agency that provides mental health services to children, adolescents, and their families.
The event is scheduled in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, and takes place at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 18 at Saxe Middle School Auditorium in New Canaan. Tickets are available online for $10 at www.childguidancect.org/MAGIC or at the door for $15.
Not only will this show be supporting and increasing awareness of the mental health needs of our youth, but it will truly be a remarkable experience for the entire family. Throughout the show, the audience will be treated to a rare, yet incredible blend of Las Vegas style illusion, mind reading, comedy, sleight of hand, and audience participation. Three of the tri-state area’s top magicians will be on the stage, bringing families in the community a show they’ll never forget.
“CGC is a great organization and the work they do is more important than ever. Trent, David and I are honored to entertain the families of our community to help bring awareness about children’s mental health,” said Ben Zabin, who also performed for CGC in2016. He continued, “My mother served on the CGC Board of Directors for many years, and so I know the difference CGC can make for a kid.”
Currently, the community need for children’s mental health services has never been greater. An estimated 20% of Connecticut’s children have a diagnosable mental health condition and only 20% of those receive the treatment they need. The demand for mental health services is particularly acute in Fairfield County, where many mental health providers in private practice do not accept Medicaid or private insurance. CGC is committed to providing mental health services for children and teens regardless of their families’ ability to pay.
“This is a spectacular show,” said Dr. Eliot Brenner, President and CEO of CGC, “In addition to being a fun family event—we are bringing awareness about the mental health needs of our youth and raising funds to ensure the kids who need help receive it. We are so grateful for the support of the Trick Trio. Without fundraisers such as these, we would not be able to reach as many children as we do.”
