Demetrio \”Dino\” Rende

Demetrio “Dino” Rende, 63, a resident of Marlboro, NY, formerly of Greenwich, passed away on November 13, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. The son of the late Rocco and Elvira Garreffa Rende, he was born on May 14, 1954 in Greenwich, CT. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 1973 and enlisted in the U.S. Army that same year. Upon completion of his service, Dino began a long and rewarding career as a contractor in CT and NY, specializing in carpentry and home restoration.

Dino was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Marlboro, Hosana Church in Highland, and the Father Hanley Council 7266 Knights of Columbus. He was an active volunteer for the Marlboro Central School District, Milton Library, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, and Marlboro Youth Baseball & Softball Association.

A talented musician and artist, Dino was a member of the Visionary Art Collective at the Varga Gallery in Woodstock, NY. Throughout the years, he greatly enjoyed creating and performing music with fellow artists at local festivals and fundraisers.

In 2016, he had the great honor and distinction of being one of the oldest graduates of SUNY Ulster’s Class of 2016 with the goal of becoming a full-time art therapist.

Equal to his love of the arts was the immense joy he had for his family. He was extremely proud of his children, nieces, nephews and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren Bronwyn, Samuel, and Thomas, grand-niece Jillian and grand-nephew Griffin.

Survivors include his son Robert Rende of Marlboro, NY; his daughters Angela (Tim) Wilson of Norwalk, Leanne Rende of Dover, NY and Mia Rende of Marlboro, NY. Dino is also survived by his brother Francesco (Mari) Rende of Trumbull; sisters Michelle Andreoni of Stamford, Viola (Ray) Ramaglia of Trumbull, Virginia Kurpeawski of Stamford and Toni (John) Morgan of Stamford.

In addition to his parents, Dino was predeceased by his sons Frank and Rocco Rende.

There will be a gathering at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov 28.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Roch’s Church at 10 Saint Roch Avenue, on Wednesday, Nov 29 at 10:00am.

Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home is located at 134 Hamilton Avenue in Greenwich.
