The Junior League of Greenwich (JLG) hosted 80 children at the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich in a gingerbread cookie workshop this weekend.

The event, now a JLG tradition, is held annually as a prelude to The Enchanted Forest which will be this week! The Enchanted Forest is moving “Home for the Holidays” this year to Christ Church Greenwich, across the street from Junior League of Greenwich Headquarters.

The gingerbread cookie workshop allows eager children to use their creative talents and take home a fully decorated, one-of-a-kind “masterpiece.” Junior League of Greenwich members created holiday magic by filling tables at the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich with bowls of multi-color candies and plenty of icing to allow children to exercise their imaginations. The children, often accompanied by parents and grandparents, spent time carefully choosing just which colors and types of decorations they wanted to use to make their very own work of art.

The gingerbread workshop has become a beloved pre-holiday tradition for both the Junior League of Greenwich and the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.

The Enchanted Forest will kick-off this year with the “Thursday Night Sneak Peek” and will run from Thursday to Saturday, November 16 – 18. The Enchanted Forest may be moving this year to Christ Church Greenwich, but all of the traditional activities the town has come to cherish including gingerbread workshops, photos with Santa, Santa’s breakfast, a Polar Express-themed lunch, and more children’s entertainment can still be found at The Enchanted Forest.

The Enchanted Forest draws thousands of visitors each year from Greenwich and the surrounding communities. A variety of festive events are scheduled to take place during the three-day celebration. Other features and highlights occurring throughout the weekend include live music, performances, food trucks, and much more! Funds raised from The Enchanted Forest go directly toward supporting impactful community projects identified, designed, and implemented by the Junior League of Greenwich.
