Letter to the editor from Peter Bernstein, Recently Re-Elected to Greenwich Board of Education, Nov. 15, 2017
I am honored to have been re-elected to the Greenwich Board of Education but I did not do it alone. This victory is due to the many volunteers who helped gather petition signatures, the 1,100 Republican voters who believed there should be a choice on the ballot beyond what was offered by the Republican Town Committee.
Ultimately, it was the 9,080 voters – affiliated and unaffiliated – who wanted their voices to be heard loud and clear. This is democracy at its best.
While candidates run for the Board of Education on a party line, we are elected by all voters to serve each and every student, parent, teacher and taxpayer. You can count on me to continue to be a strong and committed voice of integrity, helping guide our schools and students to greater levels of achievement.
I look forward to collaborating with the Board to build a positive culture where the Board, Superintendent and teachers are all moving forward for the benefit of our children.
Peter D. Bernstein
Member, Greenwich Board of Education
