Chase Bank Robbed on Tuesday in Riverside. Suspect Claimed He Had a Gun.

UPDATE, 5:40pm: According to Greenwich Police Captain Kraig Gray, Greenwich Schools Board of Education instituted a “shelter in place” protocol on Tuesday following a bank robbery at Chase Bank in Riverside.

Both Riverside School and Eastern Middle School instituted the procedure, which means that students do not participate in outdoor activities and recess. Also there is extra vigilance for anyone entering the building.

Original Story: On Tuesday at about 8:45am, Chase Bank at 1150 East Putnam Ave at Lockwood Lane was robbed by a lone male subject.

According to Greenwich Police, the suspect indicated he had a handgun and demanded money. The suspect was last seen leaving the area on foot southbound on Lockwood Lane. There were no reported injuries.

Greenwich Police immediately flooded the area with both marked and unmarked units.

Greenwich Police received assistance in trying to locate the subject by the FBI, units from Westchester County, New York State, MTA and Fairfield. Also several K-9 units assisted in the search.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, approximately 5′ 7″ tall, stocky build, who attempted to cover his face with clothing.
