The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning late Wednesday night and into Thursday. The warning will be in effect beginning midnight on Wednesday and running through 6:00 pm on Thursday.
The warning is for heavy snow, with accumulations of 6 yo 10 inches in New York City, Long Island, Southern Connecticut, lower Hudson Valley and Northeastern New Jersey.
Snow will make travel hazardous due to snow covered roads and poor visibility. Blowing and drifting snow will be possible. Winds will be north 10 to 20 mph with gusts of 30-35 mph, and visibility will be 1/2 to 1/4 mile at times.
Temperatures are forecast to be around 30°.
The NWS warn to limit travel to emergencies. “If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of emergency.”
