Greenwich’s Masonic Lodge is accepting essay submissions for their 2nd annual Dave Theis Scholarship contest. The Acacia Lodge No 85 will award $2,000 to a single recipient who will be attending a higher institute of learning in fall 2017. The qualifying student must be scheduled to graduate in the 2016-2017 academic year from Greenwich High School. Completed applications must be received or postmarked by May 1, 2017.
Application should also include: Name, address, phone, email, current school, current weighted GPA, and gender.
Essay instructions: Attach a three-page, single spaced essay discussing an event in Greenwich history that has had a lasting effect on the town; or a town citizen who has made a lasting effect on the town; or choose to write about one of the three following topics:
- Who was Gen. Putnam and for what event is he famous?
- Which town resident offered their yacht,The Oneida, to President Cleveland? For waht purpose did he do this?
- Who was Colonel Raynal Cawthorne Bolling and how is he remembered today locally as well as nationally?
Attach a description of the circumstances of your financial need (300 words or less).
