To the editor,
Like many others in town, I was happy to see that John Blankley has reconsidered his decision to retire from the Board of Estimate & Taxation (BET ).
As I am a conservative Republican, this may strike many as odd, but I have come to admire John and his commitment to our town.
He is an honest broker who brings much to the table as a successful businessman, diligent public servant, and not least of all, as a proud American who was born overseas. That he values our democracy, public service, and rigorous debate, further exemplifies a man who really is, at the end of the day, a true American success story.
Thanks for your past service, John, and thank you for deciding to continue that service on behalf of us all here in our town.
