To the Editor:

On behalf of Neighbor to Neighbor, I would like to extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the Greenwich community for many expressions of compassion and caring we have witnessed over the past months.

The holiday season is a time to reflect upon whatever good fortune we have, be it big or small, and express our gratitude by lifting up others around us.  Particularly this year, I have noticed among some a deep commitment to healing our divisions by coming together around a common purpose to help others.

When a local resident learned this Thanksgiving we were 100 turkeys short of meeting our goal of 500, she wrote a check to buy them. When we tried to buy them from Kings Food Market, Kings donated them instead.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, we were able to provide 200 local children with holiday gifts during our first-ever organized toy distribution.

Hundreds of volunteers provided thousands of hours of service over the past year to help us feed and clothe our low-income neighbors.

At this, the close of the year, I am reflecting on the great generosity and goodness in our community.  There is more to do, for sure, but no better community able to do it. Thank you to all who have supported us over the past year.

Nancy Coughlin, Executive Director
