Naoko Yamazaki, 46, of 193 Henry Street in Greenwich was arrested on Dec. 19 for an incident that took place back on Nov. 18 on Henry Street, when a passing motorist called Greenwich Police after spotting a small child wandering alone outside around 10:00am.
According to Lt. Kraig Gray, a four-year-old girl was spotted on the north east corner of Western Junior Highway.
Police located the child’s residence and found it unsecured and went in to look for a guardian, though nobody appeared to be at home. Some time later, the guardian returned.
Ms. Yamazaki was arrested by warrant after turning herself in at Greenwich Police headquarters. She was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor.
According to the police report the child had been left at home for approximately one hour. Yamazaki was released on a promise to appear in court.
