In an event that became an instant tradition, on New Year’s Eve 2016, YMCA of Greenwich Executive Director Bob DeAngelo organized a ball drop on the corner of Mason St and East Putnam Ave just before midnight, following a group warm-up led in the gymnasium. The Midnight Run/Walk drew about 100 people in its first year, and will no doubt draw a bigger crowd to ring out 2016.
A highlight of the midnight run/walk are the delicious pancakes that follow the chilly jaunt down Greenwich Ave. The warm up and registration begin at 11:00pm at the YMCA of Greenwich, 50 EAst Putnam Ave.
After the group watches the ball drop on the corner of Mason St and Putnam Ave, everyone will head out from the YMCA and down Greenwich Ave to Indian Harbor, through Bruce Park, up Milbank and back to the YMCA for the pancake breakfast. (16 and over please).
Please wear reflective clothing and/or headlamps. To register, visit greenwichwmca.org or contact bob DeAngelo at (203) 869-1630 extension 506. Email Bdeangelo@gwymca.org
