Featured speaker at the Retired Men’s Association on Wednesday, Dec 21 will be David Shafer.
Many have sat through vacation photos from friends, squinting to see through darkness, and struggling to see figures that are too far away. David Shafer explain how to take better photographs while regaling attendees with his humor.
Mr. Shafer is an optical systems designer, scientist and inventor who has previously spoken at the RMA about the physicist Richard Feynman.
He has designed camera lenses, telescopes and microscopes and some of his devices have been on space flights to Saturn, the asteroid Vesta, the dwarf planet Ceres, and a comet. This talk will focus on the planet Earth.
Mr. Shafer teaches opera courses at Lifetime Learners at NCC and the Fairfield Senior Center, and also gives talks on a variety of topics elsewhere. He has been passionate about opera for over 50 years. He has a vast collection of about 250 opera CDs and 100 DVDs and travels to operas around the world.
The RMA featured speaker series takes place at First Presbyterian Church, 43 Lafayette Place in Greenwich. The talk starts at 11:00am, following the regular meeting of the RMA.
