Five Greenwich Aquatics alumni competed this weekend in the NCAA Men’s Water Polo Championships, held at the Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley, California.
The Greenwich Aquatics Alumni were:
- Matthew Alexander – Pomona
- James Baker – Pomona
- Thomas Dunstan – USC
- Charlie Owens – Harvard
- RJ Quigley – Davis
Since the program started 2007, Greenwich Aquatics has grown to serve over 250 athletes each year – ages 5 to 55. It is largest and most elite program outside of California, with players coming from all over the tri-state area to train with the elite coaching staff.
The athletes are highly sought after by collegiate coaches with alumni playing at some of the top water polo schools: Harvard, Brown, Princeton, Pomona, UPenn, Michigan, MIT, Fordham, USC, and UC Davis.
Over the last nine years, the club has also had over 20 athletes on various USA youth national teams. The club even boasts an Olympian. At the age of 18, Thomas Dunstan was the second youngest player on the USA Team and the first male athlete to come outside California to make the Olympic team in 20 years. He played in the 2016 Rio games.
