Saturday evening  a Port Chester man was killed after being struck by a tractor trailer on I95 in Greenwich.

The incident is unrelated to the two passengers of a vehicle who are in critical condition after being struck by a tractor trailer at the end of the exit 3 off ramp from I95 the same night.

State police said that Carlos Coyt-Orozco of Port Chester had pulled over to the shoulder after his car ran out of gas.

His passenger, David Espinoza, also from Port Chester, was helping him push his car.

Espinoza was at the back of the car. Mr. Coyt-Orozco was standing by the driver’s side door, trying to push and steer the car when a tractor trailer driven by John Hoffman of Gloucester, New Jersey, hit an irregular spot on the road and was blinded by the glare of the sun.

According to state police, Hoffman’s truck drifted toward the shoulder and hit Mr. Coyt-Orozco, who was then transported to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

According to state police, Mr. Hoffman immediately pulled over and cooperated with them when they arrived.

According to Lt. Kraig Gray of Greenwich Police, an off-duty Greenwich Police officer was first to come upon the accident and called it in. Lt. Gray added that at the time of the accident, there was heavy traffic and rubbernecking on the highway.
