Look at the sweet face on this boy. Trip was one of a couple dozen dogs transported north from Alabama via Tennessee a few weeks ago. Local dog lover Franchesca Biondo has worked tirelessly to help find Trip and two dozen other dogs local permanent homes. The dogs underwent a new FDA-approved neutering process that uses zinc, called Zeutering. The Zeuter dogs, mostly lab-hound mixes are all on their way to finding forever homes.
The list of compliments we can pay this sweet boy is long. Trip, who is estimated to be 4-5 years old, is a southern lab-hound mix. Though he does not get along with other dogs, he has a lot to offer.
Despite never having lived in a home, Trip’s foster mom Alexandra Zambito in Greenwich tells us he learned quickly how to go up and down stairs and take his cues from her. Though he is playful when there’s someone to play with, he’s equally happy to sit calmly or just relax in the air conditioning and gaze out the back door.
“And he’s housebroken,” Alexandrea said. “Despite never living in a house, he comes and tells me if he needs to go out. He’s such a good boy.”
Trip walks nicely on a leash and, unless he sees a bunny or a chipmonk, he stays close to his humans. “Oh, and he knows not to steal food. I’m pretty sure I could leave my dinner on the coffee table and come back and he wouldn’t have taken it.”
“He has a little mouse toy he just loves,” Alexandra tells us. Trip takes his mousey and hides it in the pachysandra, but the doesn’t chew of destroy it. “He isn’t much of a barker at all, and he loves to come with me in the car.”
Alexandra calls Trip by his name and he comes when he’s called. “He knows his name now,” Alexandra said, adding that he’s not afraid of the water and would like to learn to swim. “I brought him in the pool and held him in my arms. He just relaxed and floated along. It was so cute,” she said.
