Saturday was a gorgeous day up at Camp Seton on Riversville Road, where the Cub Scouts enjoyed the annual Turkey Shoot. Scott Stewart, the Ranger at Camp Seton said the day was all about fun.
“Heather Lowthert put a great program together,” said Scott Stewart a Ranger up at Camp Seton, referring to the program director who organized the event, which is now in its sixth year.
“It’s all about having fun and being safe,” said Stewart. Scott’s mother Irene was also his Den Mother growing up with two brother, and today serves as a Unit Commissioner.
“This event is a success thanks to a lot of volunteers who keep the Scouting program going. Scouting is driven by volunteers,” Stewart said.
The event was organized into eight stations on a giant loop around Camp Seton. Beginning with a safety talk, the boys operated the giant sling shot, fashioned marshmallow catapults, took a turn at the BB Gun range, attempted to hit targets at the hammer toss and even used small slingshots to shoot dried garbanzo beans at targets.
The event ran from 1pm to 3pm, though on Saturday night about 20 boys planned to camp out in tents.
