Starting Saturday November 12, the Greenwich Lions Club will be selling Texas Ruby Red grapefruit and naval oranges in various locations throughout Greenwich. The cost is $20 for grapefruit and $21 for oranges. Please look for the Lions wearing their traditional gold vests alongside their stacks of grapefruit cases and purchase one or two. Locations include the Post Road in Cos Cob next to the firehouse, Old Greenwich village and the entrance to Greenwich Point.

During the past 90 years, the Lions Club has contributed more than $2 million to local, State, and national organizations. These monies, made possible by fundraising efforts including the annual grapefruit sale, support eye research at Yale and UCONN; the large print section at the Greenwich Library, college scholarships thru the GSA, Hill House; the Bruce Park Children’s Play Ground; the GDSS Campership Program; the low vision program at Greenwich Hospital, and more than 20 local community non-profits. The Lions’ newest projects include conducting eye screenings at pre-schools and grade schools in Greenwich.
