On Monday, Halloween, the Freedom US 30, Dennis Conner’s last 12 meter boat which he raced in America’s Cup, got stuck.

On the boat was a guest skipper who was forced to wait for the tide to come in and free the boat.

Freedom was stuck on the rocks on Hens & Chickens, which is off Greenwich Wee Captain’s Island just to the west of Hens (big rocks) and Chickens (little rocks) off Bell number 1, a navigational mark at the entrance to Greenwich Harbor.

The boat, which is aluminum, ran aground around 11:30am and was able to float off a few hours later at high tide with negligible damage.

The boat is birthed at the General Re building as a part of Patrick Sikorski’s  12 Meter Development Foundation.
