During the 2015-16 school year, Greenwich High’s Student Government will be led by Student Body President Spencer Faragasso and Senior Class President Joseph Peters.
While Mr. Faragasso and Mr. Peters will certainly have large shoes to fill, each presented a compelling, comprehensive agenda during Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting.
Mr. Faragasso begins his tenure as Student Body President after serving as Junior Class President during the 2014-15 school year. He is also known within the Greenwich community for his participation in the Youth Service in Action Fellowship, a service leadership program sponsored by local nonprofit Volunteers on Call. During his address to the Board, he explained that his years of education within the Greenwich Public Schools system had helped inspire his drive to aid fellow students.

Mr. Faragasso elaborated, “I’ve been a part of the Greenwich Public Schools system for my entire life. I have attended both Cos Cob Elementary and Central Middle School. Because of this, I have a great attachment to our schools – especially Greenwich High School.”
Among the issues he plans to address during the 2015-16 school year, Mr. Faragasso explained that among the most pressing were, “Greenwich High School’s environmental stance, school start times, and ensuring a successful rollout of the 1:1 digital learning initiative.”

Mr. Peters, who will assume the role of Senior Class President during the 2015-16 school year, is already known within the Greenwich community for achievement across fields. He won first place in the Civics First Constitution Day Essay Contest during the 2014-15 school year, and was feted in May for earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
During his address to the Board, Mr. Peters mentioned his excitement to begin addressing the concerns of his peers. “I ran for Senior Class President, because I wanted to represent my fellow classmates by achieving what they need. During my time at Greenwich High School, I have heard many concerns from my peers, and now that I am in office, I have the ability to both address and try to solve them.”
Specifically, Mr. Peters looks forward to creating change with regard to “issues of wifi and student workload, while aiding the Board and school administrators in finding a solution to the school start time debate.”
This reporter wishes Mr. Faragasso and Mr. Peters the best of luck as they begin their leadership of Greenwich High’s Student Government.
