A new non-profit rescue group had its first adoption event on Saturday at Pet Pantry on Railroad Ave in Greenwich.
“Pit Stop” may be new, but Amanda, Anya, Tina, Danicia and Sophie are seasoned rescuers, having rescued dogs and cats for several years through Cat Assistance, which also places dogs.
Tina Aronson, Amanda Erb, Anya Kopchinsky, Sophie Gustavson and Danicia Ambron are the force behind Pit Stop. On Saturday they introduced three lovely dogs to potential adopters.
Happy dogs Hazel, Holly and Merle made all sorts of friends.

Merle, 1-1/2 years old, who volunteers describe as bomb-proof, has an easy going personality of a Golden Retriever. He is house trained and being fostered locally. Merle lived with children and is a very calm, polite boy. While he’s been down a rough road after his family gave him up, and he would love to be in a home where he is not left alone all day, he will return the favor with unconditional love and his polite demeanor.
Hazel, who is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix is a big puppy – 90 lbs for her yount nine months. She was a family dog and is good with children. She needs a little training and would enjoy a fenced in yard.
Holly, who sported a pearl necklace — or rather collar — at Pet Pantry on Saturday, was a stray who was found with another dog in Bridgeport. She is totally house broken and has a happy, outgoing personality. She and Merle enjoyed hanging out together at the event.
