Angel Dejesus Abreu, 29, of 668 Hole Avenue #1F in the Bronx was arrested in Byram Park on Ritch Ave just after midnight on Tuesday.
According to Greenwich Police, investigation revealed that Abreu would be delivering 180 bags of bags of suspected heroin to a person in Greenwich, and that he had put the drugs in a void behind the stereo face in his car.
“They set up a buy and bust operation,” said Sgt Slusarz on Thursday.
Abreu was detained and a Ct State Police Trooper and K9 Iowa were requested to search the vehicle, resulting in a positive passive alert on the radio. Police removed the radio and found a plastic bag containing 18 bundles (10 folds per bundle) of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 59.8 grams.
Each fold was stamped in blue ink “Hands Up.” A portion of the suspected heroin was field tested, resulting in the presence of Fentanyl.
Abreu was charged with Illegal Manufacture, Distribution, Sale of Controlled Substance, Criminal Attempt Illegal Manufacture, Distribution, Sale of Controlled Substance, and Illegal Possession.
The previous night, Greenwich Police made a major drug arrest in Armstrong Court.
“Two back-to-back arrests are decent seizures for this area,” said Sgt Slusarz on Thursday, adding that he couldn’t say if the two busts were related incidents. “It was very good work on the part of the Narcotics Unit.”
Abreu’s bond was set at $200,000 and he was assigned a court date of Oct 19, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court.
