The first 50 Individuals to submit photos in Greenwich Historical Society’s second annual “This Place Matters!” photo competition will be eligible to attend a special Founder’s Day reception at the newly restored Feake-Ferris House.

The house had been posted for demolition, but a group of residents came together to save it.

Photos must be received by June 25 for priority registration. The contest deadline is July 6.

Attendees at the July 18 Founder’s Day reception will be among the first to tour the lovingly restored Feake-Ferris House, along with Greenwich Town Officials, guests of the Greenwich Point Conservancy, the Historical Society, Greenwich Magazine, exclusive magazine sponsor of This Place Matters, and local press.

Erected in 1645-1689 by Greenwich founders Elizabeth and Robert Feake, Feake-Ferris House is Greenwich’s oldest home, and among the oldest in America. The Greenwich Point Conservancy’s multiyear restoration of Feake-Ferris has been made possible by generous contributions from individuals concerned about preserving Greenwich’s heritage.

Photo contest participation is easy: Greenwich residents of all ages simply snap a photo of a favorite place in Greenwich, ideally in high resolution, and submit it with a brief statement about its location and why it makes Greenwich special, by July 6th to the Historical Society at shealy@greenwichhistory.org or via social media.

For the latter, photographers should use the hashtag #thisplacemattersgreenwich and tag the Greenwich Historical Society: Instagram greenwichhistory; Twitter @GrnHistCT; Facebook @GreenwichHistoricalSociety.

Photos need to be 300 dpi to be among the winners to be published in Greenwich Magazine and displayed at the Greenwich Historical Society’s newly reimagined campus when it opens in October. Full contest details are at greenwichhistory.org.

The free Founder’s Day reception at Feake-Ferris House is July 18 at 10:00am.   A shuttle will be available to transport guests from the Greenwich Point Parking area to the Feake-Ferris House.
