While most utility repairs of the damage caused by Tuesday’s powerful thunderstorms are nearing completion in Greenwich, the state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection issued a message regarding safety around downed power lines.
Eversource field crews have witnessed people moving, driving over and walking over downed power lines.
This is a potentially dangerous and deadly situation should these lines be live. Eversource reminds customers to be mindful of downed wires when clearing brush and storm debris.
• Always consider them live and dangerous, even if they show no signs of being energized.
• Stay far away and avoid anything that may be in contact with them.
• Keep children and pets safely indoors.
