May 12 was the Greenwich Police’s annual Police Day, complete with displays of police vehicles, riot gear, and more.
The event took place at the Public Safety Complex, which houses both the police headquarters and the fire station. Activities are available for children and free hot dogs were available for all attendees.
Most of the event was in the garage due to the weather. There was a bouncy castle for children and several vehicles including a special response unit and a crime scene/forensics unit.
Attendees also had the opportunity to meet Greenwich Police canine “Kato.”

The officers even allowed people to pet him, and though he was a massive and a bit intimidating, he was very gentle with the children and a big hit with all of the attendees.
“Police Day is a day for us to give back to the community,” said Community Impact Officer Dan Paladino, who organized the event.
