Driver from I95 Taken to Hospital after Crashing in Trees by Horseneck Lot

According to Greenwich Police Lt Slusarz, around 2:00am in the overnight hours between Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13, a car traveling northbound went off I-95 near exit 3 and crashed in the trees behind the the temporary fire house in Horseneck lot.

“The driver was not communicating property,” Slusarz said. “They didn’t know if there was another person in the car who might have been ejected.”

Slusarz said a search was conducted of the wooded area They conducted a search of the wooded area and of the brook.” (Horseneck Brook travels under 95 and into Greenwich Harbor). Slusarz said first responders were Greenwich police, State Police and Greenwich Fire Dept, and that the police dive team got called out, as well as the Greenwich Fire Dept dive team.

“He was communicating somewhat on scene,” Slusarz said of the driver. “He went to hospital. If there were indications that he was drunk we would follow up with a chemical analysis for blood or urine.”

Greenwich Fire Dept Chief Peter Siecienski commented on the incident on WGCH Monday morning. “Someone was thought to be ejected out by Horseneck,” he said, adding, “Wear your seatbelts. We don’t like cutting people out of vehicles, which we have been doing a lot of.”
