Several Greenwich Girl Scout Service Unit members were honored and recognized at the Girl Scouts of Connecticut Council Annual Meeting at the Oronoque Country Club in Stratford. Over 200 members were in attendance to celebrate our amazing volunteers and accomplishments that Girl Scouts have made over the last year. Board Chair Trish Bowen and CEO and Executive Director Mary Barneby presided.

The GSUSA Volunteer of Excellence Pin was awarded to long-time volunteer Annie Brown. Introduced in 2013, the Volunteer of Excellence award recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout leadership experience through use of the national program portfolio, or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the Council’s mission delivery to girl and adult members.

In particular, criteria for this award requires that the nominee’s performance has exceeded expectations and supported the Council’s mission delivery goals in one or more of the following functional areas: membership development/community cultivation; volunteer relations and support; program, leadership and governance; fund development; and Council support service. As well, the nominee must actively recognize, understand and practice the values of inclusive behavior.

As well, the GSUSA Appreciation Pin was awarded to Greenwich Girl Scout Service Unit Co-Managers Jung Peng and Wendy Yu. This award recognizes exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout leadership experience. This service, which has had a measurable impact on one geographic area of service, helps reach and surpass the mission-delivery goals of the area. Specific criteria for this award requires that service performed by the nominee is above and beyond the expectations for the position held and has made an impact on one geographic area within the Council’s jurisdiction.

Volunteers celebrating milestone years of service were also celebrated: Elizabeth FitzRoy and Catherine Goff were honored for 25 years of service and Pamela Ferraro was honored for her 20 years of service.
