It was a memorable afternoon for the 550 attendees of the annual Spring Luncheon to benefit Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. Held at the Stamford Marriott in early in April, the event brought together people from all across Fairfield County in support of women’s reproductive health.
Comedian Jane Condon kept things rolling as Congressman Jim and Mary Himes came on stage to receive the 2018 Community Impact Award from Amanda Skinner, new president and CEO of PPSNE; Ali Walensky, a young breast cancer patient, updated her story about how Planned Parenthood saved her life; and speaker Faye Wattleton, the youngest and first African American woman to head the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (1978 to 1992) got a standing ovation.
With co-chairs Erica Buchsbaum, Julie Church, Danielle Eason, Diane McEnroe, Donna Moffly and Sheila Mossman at the helm, the luncheon raised over $606,000 for PPSNE, which serves 72,000 patients across Connecticut and Rhode Island.
