Copperplate was used in the Declaration of Independence and is now used for weddings, logos, and White House Invitations. This elegant and graceful script is written with a pointed pen by means of a pressure and release movement.

Beginners will learn the basic letter shapes and fundamentals of spacing in this introduction to the pointed pen and oblique penholder. The classes will be held in St Clair’s shop, where each student will have the opportunity to receive one on one instruction.  All levels of experience are welcome.

Karen Gorst is consistently ranked as one of the best living calligraphers and illuminators.

The Society of Scribes ranked her as one of the top 100 most influential calligraphers of the entire 20th century. Her work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Morgan Library and Museum.  It has been 15 years since she has taught in Connecticut.  Visit her site at www.gorststudio.com
