Letter to the editor submitted from Monica Prihoda, RTM, District 6, submitted April 27, 2018
To the Editor:
In response to First Selectman Tesei’s decision to run for Lt. Governor and the recent attacks on Bob Horton by several Republican officials, I for one am grateful that Mr. Horton’s columns address important issues impacting Greenwich.
While it makes those in power uncomfortable (both Democrats and Republicans), Mr. Horton’s front page opinion columns have uncovered serious problems in our town government under Mr. Tesei’s stewardship including financial mismanagement of multiple town departments ranging from the parking bureau to town clerk to the tax collector’s office.
These apparently well coordinated attacks on Mr. Horton are eerily similar to those President Trump makes on the free press that are designed to distract citizens from the issues.
An April 21 headline article concerned the disciplinary action taken for students’ silent protest on gun violence.
With the coming 2018 mid-term elections upon us, I want to know exactly where our local officials – our Selectmen Mr. Tesei – especially in his bid for Lt. Governor – Mr. Toner and Mr. Litvack, and Senator Frantz, Representatives Bocchino, Camillo and Floren stand on the National Popular Vote, gun legislation, immigration, healthcare, women’s and gay rights among others.
It behooves all those running for office to conduct numerous Town Halls – at various times of the day and night – so constituents may attend and learn their positions on decisions which will affect us.
For the record, I have voted for Mr. Tesei in the past.
Sincerely,
Monica Prihoda, RTM, District 6
