On Monday, April 30 the Greenwich Prevention Council will hold the next in the Stress, Success and Teenage Setbacks series. The focus will be on coping with anxiety and stress.
The event runs from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Arch Street Teen Center.
The keynote speaker is Zeke Thomas, son of Detroit Pistons basketball legend Isiah Thomas, who will talk about coping with anxiety related to life’s stresses.
The April 30 event coincides with Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
In addition to Mr. Thomas, Tracey Masella of Silver Hill Hospital for Mental Health and Addiction will work with Greenwich High School Improv Troupe members to lead role playing skits to model both successful and unsuccessful interactions between teens and parents. One skit, for example, may include topics or incidents teens don’t share with their families and how to create those opportunities.
Closing comments will be from GHS senior Lucy Massam, a vlogger on YouTube who has thousands of subscribers. She will share a teen perspective on coping with stress and anxiety.
Previous speakers at Stress, Success and Teenage Setbacks include Scooter Braun and MTV’s Giovanni Rivera.
The forum is organized by the Greenwich Prevention Council, Arch Street Teen Center, GHS Outreach Club, GHS Stress Less Club, GHS CODA Club, GHS student government, and Greenwich Junior United Way, and is made possible by a grant from the Greenwich Prevention Council.
From 6:00pm to 6:30pm there will be pizza and Garden Catering, with the presentations starting promptly at 6:30pm. Following the presentations, there will be Q&A. The event concludes at 8:00pm.
