Paper Shredding will be held at Island Beach parking lot on Saturday, April 21 st from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon.
Shred old statements, tax forms, medical info and personal documents you no longer need. Cost is $2 per box of paper with a maximum of 5 boxes per car. All plastic and metal bindings and clips, folders, newspaper and envelopes must be removed. This event is open to Greenwich residents only.
Protect your personal information and the environment. Keep paper out of the trash and save trees. On-site shredding will assure all the paper shreds are recycled.
Santaguida Sanitation and The First Bank of Greenwich have been sponsors of paper shredding day since its inception in 2012.
“In the 6 years we have been sponsoring paper shredding, we continue to see less and less paper in the trash,” said James Santaguida, CEO Santaguida Sanitation. “Shredding is a safe method to protect personal data. And it is environmentally friendly because shreds are recycled which contributes to saving trees.”
Coincidentally Earth Day is April 22nd. This year the focus is on ending plastic pollution. Greenwich has gotten a head start on this endeavor by voting to eliminate the use of plastic grocery bags in town within the next six months.
“Our goal is to support the community we work within, both the residents and the environment,” said Frank Gaudio, CEO of The First Bank of Greenwich in Cos Cob. “We believe Greenwich shoppers will conquer the challenge of learning to live without plastic grocery bags.”
To this end, the bank will be providing a reusable grocery bag to each resident who participates in paper shredding day
Shredding Day is organized by volunteers from Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board and Greenwich Green & Clean. Contact: GreenwichRecycles@gmail.com.
