In collaboration with Greenwich Police, Joey B’s in Cos Cob will host “Thank a Cop Day” on Tuesday, September 27.
The event, which will run all day, from 6:00am until 8:00pm, will feature Officer Asphalt and his police cruiser. A large banner and magic markers will hang outside the restaurant for residents to share their messages of thanks.
Greenwich Police Explorers will distribute lengths of blue ribbon that residents can take home to wrap around trees and tie in a bow to spread the message across town.
Kids will receive blue lollipops and first responders can have one of Joey B’s famous hot dogs compliments of Mr. Delfino.
While the event is not a fundraiser, there will be a donation can for the Greenwich Police Scholarship Fund.
A committee that includes Joey B’s owner Mr. Delfino, State Rep Fred Camillo, Greenwich Police Chief Heavey and Sgt Thorme, along with Joey B’s regulars Kerrin Coyle and Judy Goss, have been planning the event for several weeks.
Radio personality Lisa Wexler will broadcast her show on WGCH 1490 live from Joey B’s from 4:00-6:00pm during the event.
Mr. Delfino, who counts cops on the local force as regulars, and has relatives who work in law enforcement, had the idea for the Thank A Cop Day.
“These guys put themselves out there every day to keep us safe,” Delfino said. “We just want to give thanks to the great force keeping Greenwich businesses and residents safe.

Kerrin Coyle, who takes every opportunity to thank veterans, cops and emergency services workers, said, “I jumped at the chance to help plan this event because I think people will be glad for an opportunity to express their thanks.”
Lifelong Greenwich resident, Judy Goss agreed. “I was eager to help plan Thank A Cop Day after participating in the Citizens Police Academy and becoming aware of what the job entailed,” she said. “I have a lot of respect for the work they do.”
“The men and women in blue are the first line of defense for communities across the land. Here in Greenwich, we want to make sure that our friends and neighbors have a chance to thank them in person for that protection that they provide to us,” said State Rep Camillo. “Special thanks to Dom for organizing this event on September 27th. What better way to show our gratitude for the safety we all enjoy than to thank a cop!”
Joey B’s Famous Chili Hub is located at 118 River Road Extension, in Cos Cob.
