The Rotary Club of Greenwich will honor their 2018 Citizens of The Year on Thursday April 26 at Round Hill Club. The cocktail reception starts at 6:30pm-8:30pm.

This year’s honorees are Shari Shapiro, Executive Director, Kids in Crisis and Chris Franco, President, Greenwich Point Conservancy.

Their involvement and leadership in our community serves as an example to all who strive to make Greenwich “a community of friends helping friends.”

Shari has lead Kids in Crisis (KIC) as their Executive Director since 1980. She is the driving force behind this 24- hour crisis intervention and emergency shelter program for infants to teens in Fairfield County.

Shari’s dedication to youth is evident in her passionate work with The National Network of Runaway and Youth Services, The New England Network for Children, Greenwich Youth Services Council, Stamford Youth Services Bureau, Jewish Community Center and The United Way Campaign Cabinet.

Chris Franco is the President and one of the founders of The Greenwich Point Conservancy (GPC). Since 2003, Chis has restored The Innis Arden Cottage, The Old Barn, Historic Gateway and Gateway Gardens and is currently restoring the oldest home in Greenwich; The Feake-Ferris House. Chris’ passion for preserving our town’s historic homes has benefited our entire community. Tens of thousands of families enjoy the beauty and amenities of Greenwich Point each year.

The Citizens of The Year Award is The Rotary Club of Greenwich’s major fundraiser. All proceeds benefit local programs such as Family Centers, Neighbor to Neighbor, Meals-on- Wheels, Champs, ABLIS, Reading Champions and KIC as well as our ongoing international projects; Polio Plus, Heart CareInternational, Enduputo School in Tanzania, shelter boxes and bio sand filters for clean water to disaster-stricken areas.
