On Wednesday, April 4, joint replacement experts Jonathan Berliner, MD Frank Ennis, Jr. MD, and Katherine Vadasdi, MD from Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) in Greenwich, Stamford, CT and Harrison, NY will hold an in-depth panel discussion on hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgeries.

ONS surgeon and director of the Joint Replacement program at Greenwich Hospital, Brian Kavanagh, MD will serve as moderator.

The free symposium will take place in the Noble Auditorium at Greenwich Hospital from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.  This is a great opportunity for anyone considering joint replacement to learn all about the procedure, recovery and the best candidates for success.

It is estimated that more than 7 million Americans are walking around with artificial knees, hips and shoulders. The number of joint replacement surgeries performed each year is on the rise and the average age of people receiving new joints is on the decline.

According to Dr. Ennis, today’s newer techniques and technologies offer faster recovery, fewer complications and less pain than just a decade ago.

“We find that younger adults are unwilling to let chronic pain from past injuries or arthritis interfere with their active lifestyles,” said Dr. Ennis. “The only regret we hear from patients is that they waited too long to have it done.”

Dr. Berliner and Dr. Ennis, knee and hip specialists, and shoulder replacement surgeon Dr. Vadasdi, will present information about the latest advances in joint replacement including anterior hip replacement, computer-assisted surgery, and minimally invasive, muscle sparing techniques. Information about preparing for joint replacement, pain management and what to expect from the recovery process will be addressed by Greenwich Hospital anesthesiology, nursing and PT department staff as well.
