2nd Annual Health & Wellness Expo to Feature Comedy by Jane Condon, Blood Pressure & Cholesterol Screenings, Hot Lunch

screen-shot-2016-09-22-at-9-40-59-amOn Thursday Oct 6 from 9:00am until 1:00pm the Greenwich Commission on Aging, Greenwich Dept of Health and Greenwich Hospital present the second annual Health & Wellness Expo. At  11:15am award winning comedian Jane Condon will perform “Laughing for the Health of It.”

The event includes community resources, coffee and snacks, flu & pneumonia vaccines, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, and a Spin-the-Wheel for a chance to win a fabulous door prize.

Hot lunch will be served to the first 250 attendees immediately following Jane Condon’s performance. The event will be at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Road in Old Greenwich.

The Influenza and Adult Vaccination Clinic will be provided by the Greenwich Department of Health and Blood Pressure and

The Cholesterol Screenings are compliments of Greenwich Hospital.

Additionally, new interactive programming by the Commission on Aging and Senior Center will be held in the main gymnasium highlighting “Breathe n Flex”, “Super Noggin Brain Fitness” and “Getting Ready for Medicare D.”

Award Winning Comedian and Greenwich resident, Jane Condon will give a standing room only performance at 11:30 am entitled, “Laughing for the Health of It”, which is certain to lift and energize all attendees. Early morning coffee and snack will be provided.

Participants 65 years of age or older must bring their Medicare Part B / Medicare Advantage ID Card or a fee of $35 will be charged for influenza immunizations. (Seasonal and Fluzone High Dose) The charge for pneumonia immunization (Pneumovax 23) is $65 and (Previnar 13) is $180.00. Medicare Advantage Plans do not cover pneumonia immunizations received at public clinics. Shingles vaccine will be available, but quantities are limited. The charge for shingles vaccine (for persons 60 years and older) is $185.00 (cash/check only, credit cards will not be accepted – no insurance billing – receipts available).

The event is intended for adults aged 55 and better. Generous sponsors include  Sterling Care & Compass Care. Town leaders include At Home in Greenwich, Jennifer Graziano of Coxe & Graziano, Friends of Nathaniel Witherell, Greenwich Library and Visiting Angels District organizers include The Caregiver Resource Center and River House.
