This year the tried-and-true OGRCC Sandpipers Beach Camp at Greenwich Point gets a lift with four new themes and a new leadership team.

Set in a serene setting of beautiful land and beach, campers enjoy swimming, exploring, climbing, outdoor games, crafts and more! This outdoor adventure will add enhancements to all four sessions to promote good character and integrity.

“It only fits that a well-established community camp such as Sandpipers continues to grow and thrive,” said Yuki Ikeda, Program Director of the OGRCC and Co-Director of Sandpipers. Generations of families have grown up with Sandpipers. Campers become counselors and then become parents of Sandpipers. In some cases, campers grow up to even run and direct the Sandpipers Camp.

In fact, the OGRCC’s very own Program Director Yuki Ikeda, was a former camper, counselor, and now directs the program. He is excited to continue to take Sandpipers to new heights and says “I was very fortunate to spend many summers appreciating Greenwich Point while working at Sandpipers. We enjoy sharing the beauty and fun of Greenwich Point with kids in the community.”

We are excited to announce that Jenna Pelazza will be joining the leadership team to make Sandpipers even more memorable in 2018.

Jenna is currently studying to complete her masters in social work. Also, she is the lead OGRCC After School care teacher at the International School of Dundee. She joins the leadership team as one of the Co-Directors. Jenna has added her expertise to create four new fabulous beach sessions – Surfing in the USA, Fun in the Sun, Under the Sea and Bon Voyage.

The OGRCC is thrilled to have her on board and can’t wait to welcome back familiar faces and get to know new campers this summer.

Camp sign-ups have started. Four two-week sessions are available for campers ages 3 – 10. Camp days are Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. With Fridays being reserved for rainouts. Each two-week session is $375.

Yuki Ikeda adds, “No other camp offers such an affordable and wholesome outdoor beach camp experience. Spots are filling up quickly, and in fact, we already have a waiting list for some age groups.”

The Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center (OGRCC) promotes a sense of community be providing recreational athletic, educational and social programs. Celebrating 75 years of providing programs and events to the Greenwich community, the OGRCC has increased its membership from 30 in 1943 to nearly 1,800 today and expanded its programing from the original programs to a wide variety of social, educational and athletic programs – thanks to strong leadership and an engaged Board of Directors.
