reservoirThe Greenwich Board of Selectman has adopted a mandatory watering ban due to a water supply emergency caused by local weather conditions.  With the activation of the Water Shortage Town  Ordinance, the Greenwich Police will have the authority to impose a fine of $91.00  per offense with each restriction considered as a separate violation.

A brief summary of the violations includes:

All outdoor water use including the watering of lawns etc.
No use of water to wash down driveways and sidewalks
No use of water to wash cars in you driveways
No use of water to wash buildings or windows

The Greenwich Police Department will not be proactively patrolling for violators of the newly imposed Town Ordinance. The plan is to inform and educate our citizens, and police say they are confident that the residents of Greenwich once informed will cooperate.

“If we are unable to garner voluntary compliance through education and warning our officers have been instructed to enforce the Town Ordinance,” the police said in a statement release on Thursday afternoon.

The above list is not all inclusive; for a full copy of the restrictions and ordinance go to the Town of Greenwich website Hompage.http://www.greenwichct.org/
