Organizers of the weekend’s beach cleanup at Tod’s Point were overwhelmed by the amount of trash collected by about 150 volunteers, including including students from Greenwich High School and Greenwich Country Day School).
In fact, there was over two tons of trash collected in two hours, so much that the Town needed backhoes to move it.

Community partners included Bruce Museum, BYOGreenwich, Friends of Greenwich Point, Greenwich Shellfish Commission, Greenwich Green & Clean, GRAB, Sound Waters, Save the Sound, Town of Greenwich, Greenwich Point Conservancy, CT Fund for the Environment.

- Aluminum cans: 150
- Balloons: 200
- Cigarette butts: 500
- Glass bottles: 48
- Plastic bottles: 400
- Plastic bags: 1,000
- Plastic bottle caps: 1,500
- Plastic straws: 1,000
- Buoys: 30
- Fishing line: 10 lbs
- Nets: 10 lbs
- Rope: 15 lbs
- Glass fragments: 25-50 pieces
- Plastic fragments: 200+ (smaller than a quarter)
- Plastic fragments: 200+ (larger than a quarter)
- Polystyrene fragments: 200+ (smaller than a quarter)
- Polystyrene fragments: 200+ (larger than a quarter)
