Free income-tax preparation assistance is available from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Town Hall in the Hayton Room, 3rd floor throughout February and March, and until Tuesday, April 17th
The help is available on Saturdays at the Greenwich Main Library from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Taxpayers need to bring a photo ID, Social Security cards for themselves, their spouses and any dependents, birth dates and a blank check for their bank account for direct deposit in case a refund is due.
The check will be returned and only used to show the routing and account numbers.
They must also bring in wage and earning statements from employers — W-2’s, 1099-R’s and 1099-Misc; all health insurance statements and Affordable Health Care statements — Form 1095-A; interest and dividend statements from banks — Form 1099’s; and a copy of their federal and state tax returns from last year.
Married couples who are filing jointly will both have to sign the tax return.
