Fifth Person Arrested Following Early Morning Gas Station Melee

On Tuesday Feb 6, around 11:30pm, a New York man turned himself in to Greenwich Police on an outstanding warrant for his involvement in the gas station melee that took place on the state line on December 27, 2017 around 12:15am.

The man, Rogelio Rodriguez, 24, of 15 Island View Place in New Rochelle was observed to drive through the gas station parking lot striking another vehicle and leaving the accident scene, driving the wrong way on a one way street to exit the parking lot.

The first three to be arrested were:

Dean Michael Gerardi, 22, of 45 Fletcher Ave in Greenwich; Jonathan Desouza, 19, of 14 S Hawthorne St in Greenwich; and Laura Lynn Koenig, 19, of 14 Hawthorne St in Greenwich.

Mr. Gerardi, who was captured on surveillance video striking someone in the head was charged with breach of Peace 2 and Assault 3. He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 29, 2018. His bond was set at $250, which he was able to post.

Jonathan Desouza, 19, of 14 S Hawthorne St in Greenwich, who was captured on surveillance video punching someone in the head and throwing a piece of firewood through the rear window of a motor vehicle of the parking lot, was charged with Criminal Mischief 2, Breach of Peace 2 and Assault 3. His bond was set at $260, which he was able to post, and he was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 29, 2018.

Laura Lynn Koenig was charged with Breach of Peace 2. She also has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 29, 2018. Her bond was set at $240, which she was able to post.

Subsequently, a fourth man was arrested. Eric T Manning, 20, of 83 Wilbur Peck Court, was charged with Breach of Peace 2 and Assault 2.

“A lot of these people knew each other,” Lt Slusarz said back in January, adding that two people were inside the store at the gas station, and two were outside when the altercation began.

This week, Mr. Rodriguez was charged with Evading  an Accident with Property Damage, Driving Wrong Way on a One Way Street, Unsafe Backing and Breach of Peace 2.

He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Feb 14, 2018. His bond was set at $250, which he was able to post.

With the surrender of Mr. Rodriguez, in total five people have been arrested for their parts in the large fight.

Police say several were involved in the melee, including juveniles, and that the fight was witnessed by multiple customers of the gas station who did their best to avoid the tumultuous behavior.
