Western Middle School will host the first “Greenwich Playing For Change Day” on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 2:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m.
“Playing for Change Day” is a worldwide event promoting global music education. The free, family music festival in Greenwich will include concerts by Greenwich Symphony Orchestra musicians and the Atacama Ensemble, as well as music education workshops and student recitals throughout the afternoon.
The entire community is welcome to join the Greenwich Public Schools for an afternoon of inspiring musical performances and workshops.
Greenwich Playing for Change Day events will include the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra Storytime Quartet “World Tour,” presenting music from around the world. Attendees may also choose to participate in the “Practice Revolution,” with strategies for motivating children to practice their music or Music Together’s class for children birth to age five and their parents. The Greenwich Arts Council Curiosity Concerts will kick off their concert season at the Western Middle School event with the Atacama Ensemble (reservations are required for this free session and can be made via http://www.curiosityconcerts.org/)
The day’s events will culminate in performances by Greenwich Public School students.
