Amy VorenbergThe King School has elected Amy Vorenberg as the new Head of Lower School effective July 1, 2018.

Most recently, she was at Beauvoir, The National Cathedral Elementary School, a private PreK-Grade 3 school in Washington D.C. where she served as Head of School.

“Amy brings both depth and breadth of expertise to the Head of
Lower School position, including strategic program development,
curricular innovation, and community leadership,” said Karen Eshoo, King School Head Elect. “We are so fortunate to have such a visionary and charismatic educator to lead King Lower School into the future, and we look forward to welcoming Amy to campus in July.”

In addition to her role at Beauvoir, Ms. Vorenberg brings an additional 20+ years of experience in teaching and leadership, having served as Head of School at The Philadelphia School in Pennsylvania and the Lower School Division Head at Shady Hill School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She holds a BA in English from the University of New Hampshire, and an MS in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College in Massachusetts.

“I am honored to be selected as the new Head of Lower School at King,” said Ms. Vorenberg. “I am attracted to the dynamic interaction among King’s student-centered, challenging program; its expert teachers; and its kind community. These combine to empower students to achieve their personal best.”

King began an extensive, nationwide search in October of 2017, led by its Search Committee and supported by Educational Directions consulting firm. Three finalist candidates were invited for meetings on campus with the broad King Lower School community, including parents, students, faculty, administrators, and trustees.

King School is a highly selective, PreKindergarten-Grade 12 co-ed, independent day school. Exceptional Faculty provide a challenging academic program rooted in a personalized approach to teaching and learning. Students thrive within a culture of integrity, kindness, perseverance, and respect. King graduates succeed in the top colleges and universities and pursue lives of ongoing inquiry and accomplishment.
