Gas Station Melee Catches up with Greenwich Residents

Three Greenwich residents were arrested on Jan 20 for their parts in a large fight at a West Putnam Ave gas station that involved numerous people on Dec 27, 2017 around 12:15am.

Though three residents were arrested, Police say there were others involved, including juveniles.

“A lot of these people knew each other,” said Lt Slusarz, adding that two people were inside the store at the gas station, and two were outside when the altercation began.

The fight was witnessed by multiple customers of the gas station who did their best to avoid the tumultuous behavior.

Lt Slusarz said two people came out of the store and tried to break up the fight, but it wound up becoming even bigger.

During the melee, one person punched the other in the face. One grabbed a piece of wood and smashed a car window. Someone inside the store called Greenwich Police, but when officers arrived, the suspects had fled. A victim whose car window had been smashed by on of the suspects during the melee, was still on the scene when police arrived.

Police went through the surveillance footage, which led to arrest warrants.

Dean Michael Gerardi, 22, of 45 Fletcher Ave in Greenwich; Jonathan Desouza, 19, of 14 S Hawthorne St in Greenwich; and Laura Lynn Koenig, 19, of 14 Hawthorne St in Greenwich, all surrendered to Greenwich Police on Jan 20 at about 1:30am.

Mr. Gerardi, who was captured on surveillance video striking someone in the head was charged with breach of Peace 2 and Assault 3. He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 29, 2018. His bond was set at $250, which he was able to post.

Jonathan Desouza, 19, of 14 S Hawthorne St in Greenwich, who was captured on surveillance video punching someone in the head and throwing a piece of firewood through the rear window of a motor vehicle of the parking lot, was charged with Criminal Mischief 2, Breach of Peace 2 and Assault 3. His bond was set at $260, which he was able to post, and he was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 29, 2018.

Laura Lynn Koenig was charged with Breach of Peace 2. She also has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 29, 2018. Her bond was set at $240, which she was able to post.
