A man and a woman were arrested following an lunch time incident at Wells Fargo Bank on 137 West Putnam Avenue on Tuesday.
Around 12:00 noon, multiple Greenwich Police units were detailed to the bank on a report of a woman attempting to fraudulently withdraw money from a checking account.
Upon arrival, officers obtained a description of the suspect and the vehicle she fled in.
The female suspect, later identified as Ronnisha Burroughs, 25, of White Plains Rd in Bronx, NY, and her accomplice, Corey Leak, 33, of New York, NY were located and placed under arrest. Ms. Burroughs admitted that she had planned to withdraw $1,700 from a Wells Fargo bank account using a fake ID from Texas. She also admitted the plan was to split the money with Mr. Leak.
Burroughs was arrested and charged with Identity Theft 3, Criminal Impersonation, Forgery 1, Forgery 2, Attempt to Commit Larceny 4 (2 counts), Forgery 2 (2 counts), Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4 (2 counts).
Mr. Leak was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4 (2 counts), Attempt to Commit Larceny 4 (2 counts), Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3, Illegal Operation of a Motor Vehicle Under Suspension, and Improper Parking.
Burroughs and Leak were each able to post a bond of $5,000 and have a date in Stamford Superior Court Scheduled for Jan 3, 2017.
