The 2017 UConn Extension Master Gardener students received their UConn Extension Master Gardener certification this past Sunday.
The program was broad-based, intensive, and consisted of 16 class sessions (online course work and classwork each week) The Master Gardener program included over 100 hours of training and 60 hours of volunteer service.
The Bartlett-hosted Master Gardeners program continues to rank #1 in Connecticut.
Master Gardener volunteer hours and graduates a cohort of qualified Master Gardeners yearly. Upon graduation, Master Gardeners continue to maintain the Bartlett’s grounds as well as provide outstanding community education and outreach.
Master Gardeners also serve in the UConn Extension Master Gardener Plant Clinic at The Bartlett, answering questions posed by the public regarding plant identification, horticultural best practices and diagnosis of disease or pest problems.
Master Gardeners lead members of the community through guided tours at the Arboretum, covering topics like perennial garden design as well as herb and vegetable gardening.

Applications are now available for the 2018 Master Gardener Program through UConn Extension and the deadline is November 3rd.
Master Gardener interns receive horticultural training from UConn, and then share knowledge with the public through community volunteering and educational outreach efforts. Enrollment in the UConn Extension Master Gardener program is limited and competitive.
