The Annual Walk / Run for Abilis will be held at Greenwich Point Park (Tod’s Point) in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
The event includes a 5K run, a one-mile, accessible walk, family-friendly activities and food and is attended by individuals of all ages and abilities.
There will be a Kid’s Activity tent with arts & crafts and face-painting, a bouncy castle, a “Bubble Bus” and a fire truck that children and parents can explore! The activities begin at 9:00 am with the start of the 5K run and continues with the walk at 11:00 am.
Participants are also encouraged to wear team t-shirts or dress in costumes (prizes provided for most creative outfits).
The Abilis Walk/Run Ambassador this year is Courtney Baskin.
Courtney is a participant in the Abilis Job Skills program. The program helped Courtney get a competitive job working the cash register at the Port Chester Stop & Shop where she has been since 2015. Courtney first started working with Abilis in 2009 where she learned job skills in the Abilis’ job program, developing job-related proficiency, such as stocking shelves, working a cash register, taking inventory and worked in the Abilis Cafe. She also worked in the office at Abilis helping with video work. She has gone on to help others in the community and is a true shining star. Courtney is thrilled to be the Abilis Walk/Run Ambassador this year.
