Greenwich United Way Reading Champions started its 10th year of dedicated service to its flagship program at a kick-off meeting with the program liaisons on Friday, September 15.
Program Coordinator Marie Wardell and Volunteer Coordinator Betsy Coons met with site liaisons to plan the launch of Reading Champions at all Greenwich elementary schools and four after-school programs.
The program officially starts in late October. Volunteers are always needed. Greenwich United Way provides training.

“The launch meeting is one of the most important components of starting the Greenwich United Way Reading Champions year,” said Marie Wardell. “It exhibits how the program is organized and it provides the leadership needed to service a number of children who benefit from our program every year. The launch meeting allows the team to share ideas, distribute program materials, and provide the support for the upcoming Greenwich United Way Reading Champions year.”
Wardell said that as the program grows, volunteers are needed to to service the children. Volunteer training will take place October 3, 4, and 5.
