Participants town wide may now sign up for the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich 6th annual Muddy Up5k!
This highly anticipated friend and family mud run/walk takes place on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Camp Simmons on 744 Lake Avenue in Greenwich at 9:00am.
This event sells out every year, so participants are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
This exciting event is for runners and walkers who enjoy an adventure on wooded trails and natural man-made obstacles. Approximately seven hundred participants comprised of adults, teens and kids –family and friend groups ages 6 and older, will get MUDDY and fundraiser for Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich members.
Burt Hilton, Greg Martinez and Hal Shaw are the volunteer Chairs of this event which is essential to raising money to support the After School program at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich. Club members, ages 6-18, benefit from an array of programs including tutoring, swim lessons, outdoor adventures, art classes, homework help, summer camp and so much more—all for an annual membership fee of just $50.
More than 50% of the children the Club serves live below the poverty line. Each dollar generated from this mud run will enable the Club to continue to be affordable for ALL kids to be exposed to opportunities that keep them safe and build character.
Community members are encouraged to participate by signing up to walk or run or by making a donation to help reach the Club’s goal of $125,000.
Rain or shine, the weather will be perfect for participants to forge through rugged trails on 77 acres of wilderness.
Walkers and runners will traipse through unique and man-made obstacles before traversing Camp Simmons’ legendary lake across the rope bridge, plunge in a gigantic mud pit, and ‘rinse’ with the Greenwich Fire Department.
Also at this event, the Club collects pairs of muddy sneakers to help fight again pediatric cancer.
In 2016 event participants brought in over 300 pairs of shoes.
This year, the committee hopes to collect more shoes to donate and encourage all participants to offer what they can again.
Registered participants and event supporters will enjoy entertainment provided by a DJ and delicious food at a local food truck.
This event will not be timed.

8:30 am: Check-In /Photos/Warm Up
9:00 am: Honor Guard and singing of the National Anthem and Race Begins – BGCG Youth of the Year Representative
10:00 am: Fastest runners will cross the finish line. They will jump in the mud pit then get hosed off by the Greenwich Fire Dept.
11:30 am: Walkers to be finished with race – Get Hosed Off
12:00 pm: Run/Walk Ends
