The Greenwich High School Band has recently announced that their annual
performance-based trip will be to Ireland in the spring of 2018.

These trips help promote cultural exchanges through musical collaboration. It is a chance for students to not only experience different cultures throughout the world, but to interact with local kids and share in their love of music.

In the past, the band has traveled to international places such as China, Greece, Cuba, and England, as well as cities in the U.S. – Chicago, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco and many more.

The band has a history of performing for students with special needs. On this trip to Ireland they are planning to play at Barretstown, a specially designed camp which offers free programs for children and their families living with a serious illness – supported behind the scenes by 24-hour on site medical and nursing care. It is one of the camps that was founded by Paul Newman and part of the Hole in the Wall Camps family.

In order to help students defray the cost of this incredible educational opportunity, they are having an Irish Country Shindig fundraiser, on October 21 st starting at 7:00 pm, in the barn of the stunning Steeple Chase Farm in back country Greenwich.

This event is open to the general public and promises to be a fun-filled evening with Irish music (presented by the Otter Rock Ramblers), traditional Irish food, a sampling of brews, games, and more! There will also be a silent auction where people will be able to bid on a wide variety of exciting items.

Ticket prices start at $95/pp, which includes a complimentary drink. Casual attire is recommended. To purchase tickets, make a donation, or for more information about this event, please contact event co-chairs, Janet Stone McGuigan at JLSMcG@cs.com, or Stacy Ochoa at sochoa5@verizon.net.

Please come and enjoy this evening and help the GHS Band find their pot o’ gold to help with this incredible journey to Ireland!
